Privacy Policy - Redirect Chain Revealer

Last updated: July 23, 2026

Redirect Chain Revealer is a Chrome extension that shows the sequence of HTTP redirects a page went through before reaching its final destination. This policy explains what data the extension observes, stores, and does with it.

**What data is collected**

The extension observes the URLs and HTTP status codes involved in a tab’s main-frame navigation (the address bar, not iframes or embedded resources) – for example, an initial shortened link, any intermediate redirect URLs, and the final destination URL. This is functionally equivalent to a user’s web history for the pages that redirect.

**How data is stored**

Captured redirect chains are stored using Chrome’s `chrome.storage.session` API, scoped to the local browser session. This data:

- Never leaves your device
- Is not transmitted to any server, including any server operated by the developer
- Is not sold, shared, or used for advertising, analytics, or any purpose other than displaying the redirect chain to you in the extension’s popup
- Is automatically deleted when the browser session ends, and is removed for a given tab as soon as that tab is closed

**Third parties**

The extension does not integrate with, or send data to, any third-party service, API, or analytics provider.

**Permissions**

The extension requests the following Chrome permissions, used only as described:

- **webRequest** and host permissions – to observe redirect events and status codes for the active tab’s navigation. Used read-only; the extension never blocks or modifies requests.
- **tabs** – to identify the currently active tab so the correct redirect chain is displayed, and to reload the tab when requested.
- **storage** – to temporarily hold captured redirect chains, as described above.
- **clipboardWrite** – used only when you click “Copy chain” in the popup, to copy the chain to your clipboard.

**Changes to this policy**

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will be revised. Continued use of the extension after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

**Contact**

Questions about this policy can be directed to the developer via the Chrome Web Store listing’s support contact.
